The purpose of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board is to advise, direct, and administer county recreational activities and facilities in cooperation with the Pend Oreille Board of County Commissioners. The Advisory Board is responsible for carrying out those duties enumerated in RCW 36.68.060 which the Commissioners have approved through the yearly budget process.
In addition:
- The Board assists the Commissioners on planning, property acquisition, site design, facility development, use and management of open space and parks lands, and recommending adoption of rules or regulations relating to county recreational facilities requiring the enforcement by legal process.
- The Board shall review and submit to the Commissioners a proposed budget for County recreational needs/projects for each fiscal year in accordance with Pend Oreille County procedures.
- The Board also assists in establishing long-term plans in park development or capital improvements; reviewing the sources of funding, management proposals and annual major expenditures; and advising on the recreational needs of citizens of the County.
