Full-Time (40 hours/week)

FULL SALARY RANGE (hourly)

Step 1    $32.04     Step 2   $32.69     Step 3   $33.33     Step 4   $34.00     Step 5   $34.69

Hiring Salary Range: Step 1 $32.04/hour - Step 2 $32.69/hour DOE

Job Summary
Services, repairs, and maintains County vehicles and road construction equipment. Diagnoses mechanical problems, determines appropriate corrective actions, and performs necessary repairs while exercising independent judgment. Works effectively and cooperatively with the public and County employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and repair light trucks, passenger vehicles, diesel trucks, and heavy equipment both in the shop and on-site.
  • Use computers, analyzers, and scanners for diagnostics; perform extensive wiring for vehicle lighting and radio systems.
  • Operate a range of equipment including single/tandem axle trucks, dozers, and loaders.
  • Perform welding (gas/electric arc), load and transport heavy equipment, and assist with other related tasks as needed.
  • Safety-sensitive functions

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in light vehicle repair or heavy equipment servicing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; trade school certification or nationally recognized certifications preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with relevant computer, analyzer, and scanner experience.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain a Class B CDL within one year.
  • Welding certification and ASE certification are preferred or must be willing to work towards obtaining them.

Working Conditions

  • Must be comfortable with physical tasks such as lifting over 50 lbs, climbing, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
