Job Summary:

This full-time position supports the Community Justice Services Department through clerical, administrative, and courtroom functions. Duties include data entry, maintaining records, assisting with probation compliance, and acting as a liaison between various departments, including counseling services and the county jail. The role involves security and order maintenance in courtrooms and backup bailiff responsibilities. The position also supports probationers with mental health and substance abuse needs while ensuring compliance with court orders.

Essential Functions:

  1. Clerical duties: Greeting the public, maintaining files, and data entry.
  2. Compliance monitoring: Reviewing criminal history, processing probation violations, and coordinating services for probationers.
  3. Urinalysis testing and other probation-related assistance.
  4. Backup responsibilities: Covering for Community Justice Specialists and acting as a bailiff when needed.
  5. Pretrial services: Reviewing court orders, providing reminders, and facilitating treatment referrals.
  6. Courtroom security: Enforcing courtroom rules, assisting with exhibits, and ensuring jury privacy during trials.

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Strong clerical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in typing (55–60 WPM) and basic computer use.
  • Ability to work independently and handle public relations effectively.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Background checks, fingerprinting, and driving record clearance.
  • Certification in MRT/DV-MRT within six months of hire.

Working Environment:

Work occurs in office and courtroom settings, with exposure to potentially hazardous environments. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, kneeling, standing, and agility.

This role requires someone who can multitask efficiently, ensure courtroom order, and provide support to the Community Justice Services Department with professionalism and integrity.
